INDUX-R 1st Plenary Meeting, Advancing Extended Reality (XR) Applications Across European Industries
The 1st plenary meeting of the INDUX-R project took place on May 13-14, 2024, at the FORTH premises in Crete. As part of the meeting, FORTH led co-design workshops with end-user partners, focusing on the development of low-fidelity prototypes for innovative Extended Reality (XR) applications. These sessions marked the beginning of an exploration into how XR technologies can be integrated into various European industrial sectors.
The workshops provided invaluable insights and fostered close collaboration with Use Case stakeholders, ensuring that the XR applications are tailored to their specific needs and preferences. The Human-Centered Design approach is central to the INDUX-R project, demonstrating how active user engagement plays a vital role in shaping future technologies.
Looking ahead, the project will further refine these initial prototypes into high-fidelity designs, ultimately developing fully functional XR experiences across five key application domains:
- LiveMediaXR: Enhancing participation through on-site, online, and on-demand interaction in virtual environments.
- X-Ray Vision for Industry 4.0: Improving industrial productivity and safety.
- Virtual Medical Education: Offering advanced training in medical procedures within virtual environments.
- Large-Scale 4D Reconstruction of Historical Sites: Preserving historical memory by reconstructing sites in 3D and 4D space.
- NOMADE Car Races: Delivering an exciting and immersive experience for car race spectators.
INDUX-R’s philosophy places a human-centric approach at its core. From initial user requirements gathering to final ecosystem qualification, end-users are deeply involved, ensuring that the innovations are not only technologically advanced but also ethically aligned with European values.
Stay tuned as INDUX-R continues to shape the future of XR technologies across multiple impactful industries.
